This is one good looking breakfast. Thankfully, this beautiful bowl is equally tasty and provides the right macros to get you through a busy morning. I love the combination of sweet, tart & spice with varying textures and a fragrant finish. The bonus? It comes along with an impressive nutrition profile. Smoothie bowls are an excellent way of increasing your fiber intake, with this recipe providing almost half of your daily requirement. You might be thinking it’s high in sugar? For sure, it’s carb heavy, but a spike in blood sugar is offset by the high fiber content, allowing you to feel fuller for longer and avoid a dip in energy. Fiber is essential for normalizing bowel movements, lowering cholesterol, maintaining a healthy weight and preventing type 2 diabetes – and consuming fruit is one of the best ways to meet your quota.
I like to eat anti-inflammatory foods as much as possible in an attempt to relieve joint pain, so I use unsweetened non-dairy milk and include fresh medicinal ginger, which also promotes healthy digestion – and in my opinion, elevates a smoothie from nice to delicious! You’ll also benefit from a good dose of calcium and vitamin C, so that’s your bones, teeth and immune system covered. The majority of fats are the heart healthy monounsaturated kind and the saturated fat from coconut are medium chain, which help stimulate metabolism and assist with weight loss. So… what’s on the menu tomorrow morning?
